Episode 13 Im Defective
Defects of character can be a great tool to discover the issues that lie deep inside of us but if used improperly and powered by shame they only make the problems grow. Explore your defects with love and understanding of where they started. Listen as Bruce Wayne explores many aspects of this truly difficult part of the recovery process.

Let me just say this was a very worthwhile listen! It seems you truly did some homework and good atrition to this podcast. While embarking on this, I am forced to mention I am not to this particular step in the 12 steps however, I’m learning not to give up or be so hard on myself because of the defective parts of my character.

One awesome suggestion from this cast was the “mirror” idea. I may hold one up to myself to remind ME of my defect when it occurs! What a good way to symbolize improvement and to mirror behavior one wishes to engage in! “I think therefore I am” and of course negative behavior will only bring more……
I can’t wait for your next venture! How about more on “13 stepping”???? That outta be interesting…..

Another great episode. Just coming back from a meeting with the same topic. It caused me to look up defect in the dictionary. The basic definition is shortcoming, imperfect. Is it nice to know that are we not perfect and not going to be. As you said, as long as we work the steps and keep trying to do a little better than the day before-we’re going be just fine. The only way to do that is by not picking up that drink or using-just for today.

B.W.,
Entertaining as always! Thank you for your service in our on-line community. I have to admit, from my own recent experience, that I find it incredibly humorous that an alcoholic/addict takes my inventory (sometimes, they actually do a better job than I!) judges me, criticizes me, tells people that I don’t like them, or my all time favorite - critiques my sharing in a meeting by calling me out. It’s funny, we seem to forget who we are and where we come from. One addict judging another - Oxymoron - comes to mind …. then again, I’m not exactly the brightest crayon in the box.
By the by… I adore your sense of humor!
