Episode 21 The Steps

The steps are the one thing that can truly free us from the misery of active addiction. Misery unfortunately follows us into the rooms as we discover the particular substance or thing we where using to elevate this pain was simply that a band aid. Unfortunately the wound underneath has become gangrenous and toxic and now needs to be explored in order for us to find peace in our new lives in recovery.

A tough road lay ahead for those who seriously work the steps but the benefits are unimaginable. The problem we where running from all this time is nothing more then our own distorted negative self image and it wants nothing more then to be rid of us once and for all. It manifests itself in self loathing and defects of character that are causing are lives to become unraveled. We must reexamine these old beliefs about our selves and we do this using the steps.

This is a general discussion on the steps and things to keep in mind when embarking on this path.

    Dear Bruce,

As always I got a great deal out of your podcast. I connected with a lot of what you said. You talked about things I am currently working on, not just in my program, but in my personal and work relationships. And as always I found myself laughing as you delivered an entertaining variety of your personal experiences proving once again how important it is that we not take ourselves so seriously. Laughter is a great self- medication! hehe!

    Thankyou!

i enjoyed the podcast. have not listened in a while. What I learned was the problem was powerlessness. the answer was working the steps thus gaining power over whatever.
